Took volvo to manali and then scorppio from there to Leh. Tiring but fun journey. Went through the 3 highest passes of the world. Kudos to indian army for maintaining the roads at such altitudes. Went to Pangonog Tso lake, the highest Brackish water lake in the world and the biggest lake in Asia. Saw mountain camels in Nubra valley at an altitude of 12000 feet.. Will be trying to upload my pics sooon... August 09 Changing blog URLMSN spaces seems to be having fun with the blog URL. they changed it 4 times in a year....from spaces.msn.com/members/bugmann to spaces.msn.com/bugmann to bugmann.spaces.msn.com to now finally as http://bugmann.spaces.live.com/ I hope the buck stops here finally. Been a long break from blogs,, was busy getting back in india and settling the things in home and office. They are pretty OK now. Upcoming is the trip to leh on the coming weekend. For more details check http://lehtrip.blogspot.com/ . This is a blog created by the friends i am going with. In this month also went to see the Bhakra Nangal dam. While going there i was preety sure about the route however the people i was going with were 2 informed and at one cut where we asked one rickshaw waala for the route he told us an alternative route and the last 26 km on the road were like hell. road was single and that too broken heavily. I now am sure that i need to get my car belly checked up and my wheel balancing done. We found that Naina devi was about 18 km from the Bhakra dam so went there too. It was a heavy rush there. Mom despite her arthritis braved to walk all the stairs etc and finally reach the temple. There was immense rush at the entry. We decided not to go in. Dad tried to enter through the Exit gate the guard obliged and then both mom and dad went through the back door and had darshan. I felt very good for both of them, like something achieved..Specially after the hard trekking that mom had to do.. Also went to Big bazaar in Sahara Mall gurgaon on the weekend. This time decided for good to not to go to that place atleast for groceries and stuff. it all is expensive and useless, and time taken at exit is 2 high.. I found some good shirts there at decent price and bought 2. There was a scheme to get 50% off on second shirt.. April 05 Back IN NYI am back in NY for another official assignment. Weather was lovely and sunny when i arrived here but then deteriorated to windy and slight rainy. Manhattan always amazes u with all the high rise and the metro maze underground. Trying to find some foothold at work. very tough. no documentation and very little support and inclination towards testing. Lets c how things go. September 21 Pink City--Jaipur Trip Went to Jaipur on the weekend, On Friday and the days before that it was raining like anything here in Delhi, so had almost cancelled the trip. Finally in the end decided that will check weather on sat morning at 5 AM and if it’s good, we will go. As it was still raining in the morning we cancelled the trip and went to sleep. Around 7 AM my friend calls up and tells me that the sun is out and we should go... September 13 Jaipur on weekendThis weekend might just go and visit jaipur. The weather in Delhi has
improved. The drive to Jaipur is a breeze and shud be fun. Before going

Primary objective is to see the resort of chokhi dhani and take my family there. August 29 Talking about Newport town sqaure and river side walk - a photoset on Flickr

August 25 Back to DelhiTaking flight to Delhi
on 30 aug. Saying bye to NYC for now. I still have not been up the empire state
building, gone on a cruise or anything else. But also got no enthu to do all
this.
August 13 Asbury ParkI went to the Asbury park beach on the last weekend, ON the New jersey coastline there are 4-5 beaches together. Asbury park is one of them. It had a lovely board walk. The place use to be very hep in the period from 1900-1940,,then it gradually declined and is nothing compared to its past. The casiono there was in shambles. There was an old paramount theater still there,,but we could feel it like an historical place,,,feeling was similar to what u get in qutub minar and Lal quila when u imagine the past grandeur of that place. July 26 Touching a RainbowEver since a small child I use to wonder, it should be possible to touch a rainbow, well yes it is,, went to Niagara Falls over this weekend and touched a rainbow at the Bridal Veil Falls. Bridal veil is the smallest of the three falls that make the Niagara Falls, they are in order from smallest to biggest-
1. Bridal veil
2. American falls
3. Horseshoe falls.
The best part of the entire trip was the maid of the mist fairy that takes you almost to the middle of the Horseshoe Falls. There is water falling from all sides and the mist hits right in the face. We are all given ponchos to keep us dry, but all in vain, we still get wet. You get almost speechless when you reach there. I just was repeating one word,,"Awesome"
The falls are about 415 miles from New Jersey. Took us close to 8-9 hrs one way. We had 2 cars and around 4 people knew how to drive here in us and so all went fine.
My stay here in New York has been extended till aug end am now looking out for accommodation, should surely get something soon, some people from other project from my company are here and shall be helping me.
More pics on yahoo photos, find link in custom list.
July 21 Times squareTook some pics of New York
and uploaded them on yahoo photos,,find link on right of the page. June 21 StanfordI went to see Stanford univ. over the weekend. My cousin is doctor there. There Met her husband for the first time. Google gave a very good map to her place and we reached without any hiccups, though I expected some. Took some pictures of a nice church there and the PF change restaurant that we went. Had lettuce wraps... It was fun to make those wraps and have em. PF changs was quite full owing to Fathers day, but as we had prior booking we were able to get a seat fast. June 11 RenoAm planning to go to Reno tomorrow. I have not taken much photos here but this weekend will surely take many pics. San Fran has so many beggars and homeless people that it sometimes appear to me to be beating India. IN the downtown on every street u can find such people. Also in the parks such people r there.
There is no system of MRP here, every store and shop sells every item at the price it wants to. So u don’t know if that store is charging u OK or overcharging u. June 07 Shopping in San FranShopping in San Fran
Went to Wal-Mart and Costco, the 2 stores everybody says sells cheap and good stuff. Was able to get a nice cordless fone, something I wanted. Also found some cool car accessories at Wal-Mart, besides that it was usual stuff of shampoos, cosmetics, etc. Also went around to other stores also like JC penny, sears Ross etc. Found Wal-Mart the best in terms of the choice it provides and the rates are also reasonable. I will go once again to check it out. I also liked the starbucks mugs that are here and hopefully before going home I will get one. Moving into hotel for now, now have to figure out how to commute to and frm the hotel to office. I had figured how to do it effortlessly from cuz place, but now wud hafta redo the learning. May 31 Reaching USAfter checking in my baggage for airlines when I turn back I see a colleague of my previous company standing 2 ppl behind me. She has just immigrated to Australia last yr and it was sure a comfort seeing someone u know on ur first flight. But it all was a simple procedure and worked without any hitches..I tried connecting to broadband internet at airport but the site wont open,,,don’t know y???
Came to Singapore where the flight changeover was to take place. Changi is a big beautiful airport with all the facilities and the maintenance required. They have made the procedure so simple that I did not have any issues figuring out what to do,,they have reasonable amount of helpdesk people and water/internet kiosks. U can work on net for 15 mins for free at any kiosk. I tried connecting to wireless broadband at change, but then figured out it was paid and rate was abt 6$ for 30 mins.. Anyways tried to see if my mobile works (hutch prepaid), and to my wonder it worked. This was a nice surprise. I sent message to my family that things r going smooth. Delhi to Singapore was abt 5 hrs. Then a 2 hr break to the next flight.
The next flight made a stopover at Seoul. We were made to go out of the plane there and then get security clearance again and come back and sit on my seat..wierd,,I must say. Seoul airport was also very pretty and had mountains very close by. Was on a vast expanse and obviously was not crowded :-D\
Finally reach San Francisco, the flight reaches abt 40 mins early. The customs and immigration etc was a breeze, people were scaring so much abt food items and stuff,,and I did not face any issue et all. Infact when I came out then I realized all is over and I am in US..The feeling was amazing when flight was about to land in SF, seeing the roads and the houses,,something till now I only saw in filmsJ
Used toll free number to call my contacts here. The toll free information was timely provided to me by a good frnd,,even though it was also contained in the papers given to me,,I wud have ignored that info..
Till now seeing all the information, the office seems to be located close to some very good places and also has good reachabilty.
3 international cities in a span of 24 hrs—atleast the airports of 2…seems to be a nice experience. Singapore Airlines has quite good inflight entertainment system and I watched abt 3-4 movies in the entire journey. Food was OK. In drinks, had a taste of white and red wines, absolute vodka, red label and black label..With all the drinks and little sleep I was trying my best to keep myself hydrated and sleep in a manner so that I don’t get much jet lag. The strategy seems to be have worked,,feel quite OK hereJ, I had booked the aisle seat (internet checkin) on the flight from spore, which was long..so I had the freedom to walk in the long flight and go frequently for water/toilet.
Tips from my brother and my frnd sure did help a lot and obviously god seems to be on my side J May 26 Waiting for VisaHad my visa interview on Tuesday and now waiting for passport to arrive. My finger prints have a unique problem and generally do not give a fine print. So in embassy they faced problems taking the prints. I told them, in my office i face the similar problem as we have fingerprint identification at doors :-) Leaving for San Francisco for about a month and have got the plane tickets done. Will see how Singapore airlines is ... Am apprehensive about to take any food items or not..this time i will discover that :-) what to take to us and what not to... May 23 JourneySeems for the first time my dream of foriegn travel would get done. Its bieng planned that i go for training on a project to US for a month. Might go to San Fransisco. Best part my cousin is also there. So FULL MASTI if i reach there. As for work, my another friend is also there, so work wise also i dont see much issues. Tomorrow have the visa interview and many things would depend upon that. Have to finalise my forms for the same. This also makes me remember that the American embassy hs no parking at all,,what stupidity,,,and also utter disregard to the poor indians who want to go to US. |
